UK citizens are now allowed a 90 day stay in Bulgaria within any 6 month period without having to apply for a visa.
Bulgaria has four international airports,
the biggest being Sophia. The others are situated in Plovdiv
and the two coastal towns of Bourgas and Varna. There is also
an extensive network of road and train services, with local
buses and taxis in every town. The bigger towns, resorts and
airports have subsidiaries of the international rent-a-car
companies for those who are more adventurous.
The Republic of Bulgaria has a President, not a Royal family
as in Great Britain, who is elected to office every five years,
but not for more than two terms. Under the President is the
Government with an elected Prime Minister and Council of ministers
and then there are the Municipalities (local Governments)
who are ruled by a Mayor.
The acting Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria was
adopted in July 1991. It provides a multi-party parliamentary
system and free elections, in which all the citizens of the
Republic of Bulgaria take part with the right to vote.
The climate is predominantly moderate and transitional continental
with approximately 2,400 hours of sunlight per year. It has
four seasons with dry hot summers. Bulgaria has something
for everyone’s taste, with activity holidays –
skiing, climbing, riding, hunting and fishing. For those who
wish to relax, there are the beautiful
beaches, healing spas, amazing nature and hospitable
and friendly people in the towns and villages.
All accommodation in Bulgaria has been categorized on the
5-star international system. Privatisation has had a favourable
impact and today the country is proud of its many luxurious
hotels and restaurants serving tempting cuisine and fine Bulgarian
wines which meet the modern world standards.
