In our opinion, Bulgaria is undoubtedly
the number one hotspot in Europe for anyone interested
in purchasing investment properties. However, if you don’t
know the system things can go drastically wrong. Unless one
is fluent in the language and know the legal procedures for
purchasing, you will need the expert advice and knowledge
of people who deal with these things on a daily basis.
Along with our daughter and son-in-law, we have bought two
apartments in Bulgaria, one in Sunny Beach and the other in
Ravda. Sunny Beach was purchased through a Bulgarian real
estate agency from a Bulgarian building company. Things started
to go wrong even before the complex was built. To cut a long
story short, the complex was three months over schedule for
completion. Money that we had transferred was temporarily
lost by the builder, we had to pay three thousand euros more
than expected and in total we had to spend five weeks of our
time in Bulgaria purely on sorting out the numerous problems
that came up. This was a very stressful and costly time for
us and with hindsight we would not do the same thing again.
There is no comparison to our dealings with Standen LTD. Colin
Murden is an Englishman from Nottingham who saw the opportunities
in Bulgaria some years ago. He partnered up with a Bulgarian
builder called Stanko. So, Stanko builds them and Colin sells
them. The beauty of this partnership is that Stanko is an
extremely good builder and Colin is an extremely good salesman.
They also take you through the process of buying with no
hassle. Once we had agreed to buy, all the necessary
paperwork was processed here in the UK by Colins wife Lynne
and so there were no awkward money transfers to Bulgaria.
In fact, our experience when purchasing was quite enjoyable
and completely problem free.
The apartment came fully furnished and was completed ahead
of schedule.
